This year our training day has three presentations from the three committees of the Board: finance and archives, formation and outreach, and grants. There will be time to hear updates about UTO, talk, share ideas and get your questions answered. Please see the flyer for a description of each workshop. Once again we will be sending out an event swag bag prior to the event. In order to receive yours in time, please register by August 7.

Gratitude Revealed Movie Screening: 3:00pm ET
As part of our 2023 Training Day, we will have a private screening of the film Gratitude Revealed, directed by Louie Schwartzberg. After the screening, we will have a Q&A with Schwartzberg about gratitude. You do not have to attend the full training day to attend the screening.

UTO Coordinators 101
This workshop will focus on best financial practices related to UTO for parishes and dioceses. We’ll discuss all of the rules for safeguarding the Ingathering and those that count and collect it. We’ll also share ideas for how to integrate UTO into the life of the parish from an innovative approach to combining UTO with a stewardship campaign, to using UTO as a part of parish meetings and then how to integrate UTO into your parish faith formation programs.

Beyond the Box with UTO
Members of the UTO Board will present new ways to teach gratitude in your community. This workshop will be offered in English and Spanish. The beloved Blue Box is synonymous with UTO around the world and is still an integral part of UTO gratitude practice, but there is so much more to UTO and gratitude. This workshop, led by current UTO Board members, will explore how to connect gratitude in new ways, UTO technology, gratitude practices, and more.ate UTO into the life of the parish from an innovative approach to combining UTO with a stewardship campaign, to using UTO as a part of parish meetings and then how to integrate UTO into your parish faith formation programs.
UTO Grants: Out of the Box + Into the World
Applying for grants or supporting applicants can be daunting, so this workshop will help prepare you to apply for, support others, or simply help better connect the grant process with your diocese. In this workshop, members of the UTO Grants Committee will explore best practices when applying for grant funding, debut and discuss the 2023 UTO grant application, ideas for supporting applicants and how to connect the ingathering to the grants awarded within local contexts.
UTO Technology + Resources
Have you ever been certain that you saw a UTO resource but now can’t find it? Or created a resource that you’d like to share with others but aren’t certain how to? This workshop is for you! We will walk you through where all of our resources can be found and ways to use these in your position with UTO.
Gratitude + Welcoming Your Neighbor
The Rev. Christopher McNabb will present about the Neighbor to Neighbor program, a community sponsorship effort of Episcopal Migration Ministries where faith communities are invited to welcome and support asylum seekers and newly arriving Afghans. Come learn more about ways you can support this mission!
